5.0 out of 5 stars Great item at a great price!, July 25, 2011

This review is from: Zeikos ZE-3252F 52/58mm 0.34X high definition Super Fisheye lens with Super Macro, includes lens pouch and cap covers (Life Time Warranty) (Electronics)
This item worked really well for the effects i was going for, its not professional or anything but its great for beginners like myself! It attached very easily to the lens that came with my rebel Xti and my girlfriends camera which is a Pentax of some sort, the quality of this product is amazing it is built very nicely. Although its probably nowhere near as good as an actual fisheye lens, saving $30 is a lot easier then trying to save $300-800 also its kind of nice to be able to experiment with a less expensive product before investing into something you may or may not use. I highly recommend it for people who want the effect but don't have the money or people who want to experiment with the effect. If you have the money though or already know that this is an effect you want in a lot of your pictures this may not be a product that you will be 100% satisfied with. I know that for myself it's a nice start and I personally can't wait till i can start affording more professional lenses,... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good macro, poor fisheye, April 23, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Zeikos ZE-3252F 52/58mm 0.34X high definition Super Fisheye lens with Super Macro, includes lens pouch and cap covers (Life Time Warranty) (Electronics)
The macro lens is great. It's somewhere in between 20 and 25 diopters (better than you'll do with a 1x, 2x, 4x, 10x close-up set.) With my Nikon 18-55 stock lens it lets me focus at 3cm, down from a bit over 10cm (measured from the last filter -- attaching the macro lens extends the barrel distance by a few cm.)

The fisheye lens is quite poor. At low f-stops only the very centre of the frame will be in focus. At higher f-stops this only slightly improves. Severe chromatic aberrations are always present outside the direct centre. Finally, the fisheye is much closer to 0.62x than 0.34x. It's worthwhile for experimenting, but I suspect that some of the cheaper offerings on this very site would offer similar quality at half or a third of the price.

This lens is a good, cheap alternative to the expensive a$$ ones that do the same thing. Granted, it is a little bit of a pain in the butt since you need to avoid ruining the effect and at the same time capture the corners of the lens, but it is an easy fix in any photo editor, even Paint, and isn't really a game changer, just kinda makes this a bit more of an extra step.

Anyways, everything looks cooler with a fish-eye lens... (Tosh.0!)

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun lens for the Diana f+., May 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Lomography Diana + 20mm Fisheye Lens (Black) (Electronics)
I have read the reviews here and after ordering the lens, here is mine. This is a fisheye lens for the Diana f+ medium format camera. I have read about people having the canon adapter and wanting to use this lens for their canon cameras. Then post a bad review about the experience. This lens works perfectly on the Diana f+ camera. Using the 12 frame format will yield true fisheye pics. Using the 16 frame format will result in a slightly cropped fisheye view. The lens does it job beautifully. Now, as far as it being used for canon mounts, its obviously not going to be the same, or nearly the same effect as having a real fisheye lens made for a canon camera. Those are ridiculously expensive. Either put out for a canon fisheye lens, or make work with what you got. The Diana lens is a fine product. Its a lomo lens for use with a lomo camera. A definite must have for your Diana f+ lens collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I expected!, February 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Lomography Diana + 20mm Fisheye Lens (Black) (Electronics)
I bought this along with an EOS adapter to use for a photography project. I used it on both 35mm (full frame) and 1.6x crop digital. I love the results! On the 35mm, the distortion is great and really emphasized my subject matter (artistic nudes). The 1.6x is like a wide angle with some fisheye distortion. Depending on the subject it really can work well. I'm quite happy with this lens and can't wait to toss it on the Diana F+ to see the true fisheye.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best of the "affordable" Fisheyes I've found, February 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
Fisheye lenses are very fun - they give a totally different perspective compared to just about any lens out there. The most common type seem to be the "circle" type, which product a big circle in the center of your image (with the fisheye image inside of that). On digital cameras with a crop-factor (like the Canon Rebel series, XXD series and even 7D), this can sometimes result in what looks like a circle with the top and bottom cut off.. not the most enjoyable image.

That's where this one comes in - the Rokinon produced a rectangular fisheye image - there is no "circle" as with other types of fisheye lenses, but you still get that great fisheye look (distortions and all).

You might see other similar looking (and priced) Fisheye lenses available out there.. Bower, Pro-Optic, Samyang, Rokinon, Vivitar, Falcon. These are ALL THE SAME LENS - Samyang, the manufacturer, simply re-brands it and changes the colors a bit (For example, look at:... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars An underrated great lens from Samyang, November 1, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
If you are reading the review for this lens, you are looking at a highly underrated lens. The performance of this lens has surprised a lot of critics including Ken Rockwell and photozone. If you are out there shooting with fisheye, you definitely should not mind about manual focus and manual aperture. Otherwise, go ahead and spend 3 times as much of your hard earned money on Sigma or at least 4 times as much on the new Canon 8-16mm L which hasn't been shipped yet. BTW the price of this Samyang fisheye has dropped to $263. Hello? How much does the plasticy Canon kit lens cost? For the quality of its optics and build (metal), the Samyang is a real bargain. The first thing I did with this lens was to shoot toward the sun and confirmed that flares were very well controlled. You get a nice single streak of flares and they are not all over the place. Just be realistic with laws of physics, you cannot expect no flare at all with such wide angle even with nano or whatever coating. This... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Waaay better than the peleng, October 22, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
Well what can I tell you, this lens is awesome, I've testes it and let me tell you some of the results I noticed:

- The amount of flare (even pointing the lens towards the sun) is minimal, it really surprised me in a very positive way.
- It doesn't darkens the corners or produce vignetting effect AT ALL!
- The quality in the final pictures is superb, the pictures are crisp sharp even in the edges!
- Unlinke the peleng lens, the rokinon does fill the entire frame of the picture with no empty corners.
- It does not have the annoying lock ring of the peleng.
- When you handle the lens it feels great, the build quality is great and the rubber grip in the focus ring is awesome, its heaviness makes it feel like a solid rock and well built pice of glass; and, unlike the peleng, it does look modern!
- The colors look nice and saturated in the final pictures.

I loved this one, and I can truely say that this lens will exceed your expectations,... Read more
